82nd & 5th

I selected this because it was interesting the way it represents re-birth. When the mother has the baby  and she is carrying her and taking care  of her but as the mother gets older the daughter starts taking care  of her mother and her mother evectually dies. This shows that if you give you will get back in the future. The mother caring for her daughter and giving her what she needs and as they both get older the daughter gives her mother what she needs because she is starting to become like a baby again. She cant care for herself and is becoming weak again like a baby is. So her daughter has to care for her. 

LOTF chapter 5

The reading in chapter 5 reminds me of just everyday life. Ralph called for an assembly and said how he felt about everything. He said they have a lot of assemblys and have good ideas but after, it never gets done. And Ralph wants the things that are talked about in the assembly to be accomplished. I think this connects to everyday life because theres always a leader who wants to be sucesseful.

Song connection to chapter 3

The song I think connects to chapter 3 is "somewhere only we know". I think this connects to chapter 3 because specifically the part when Ralph and Jack are swimming and when the somg says ""And if you have a minute why don't we go, talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything, so why don't we go somewhere only we know?" Because that could be the end of Ralph and Jack getting along.

LOTF

The quote I picked was "Ralph and Jack looked at each other while society paused about them. The shameful knowledge grew in them and they did not know how to begin confession."(pg.40)  I picked this quote because it shows how easily and quickly society can take over people and take charge.

Utopia

My perfect utopia would have a lot of tropical fruit to supply us. And also it would have a lot of trees and stuff to make good shelter. In the utopia, we would all have to get along. If we didnt get along things would be more challenging and would cause conflict. The utopia would be a safe enviorment with no dangerous animals. There would be a boat to fish and catch food and for enjoyment. Everyone would have a responsibility on the island. There would be a leader but they would hbe to get along with everyone and be respectful to all ideas and everyone.

The culture I chose was jewish. When girls turn 12, they have a Bat Mizvah. When boys turn 13, they have a Bar Mizvah. Until that day, their parents hold responsibilty for their childrens actions.

The presentations and the work we've been doin in class has really helped me understand the esential questions for this year. I think its a good way for the class to understand by having different people present different or the same topic. Its good to here how different people amswer ome question. Im interested in this years esential question and I am excited to work with it

What unit i think i will like the best is the one about the transgender child. I think i will be interstest in it because i think its amazing and crazy how the little boy thought he was a girl and grew up thinking he was one. I want to see how other people think of it and there perspective on his decision.

Blog #1- summer reading reflection

For the book club for summer reading of the book "We Were Here" the teacher that conducted it was Ms. Varrasso. She had a tri fold board with an agenda and what we were goin to dicuss about the book. I liked the way she set it up. The participants were a mix of all the grades. There was about 15-20 kids in the group. Everyone participated. Ms. Varrasso had us get into groups and do an activity where we identified a character in our group and found 2 quotes said by that character. It was a good way to discuss the book and talk to other people you dont usually interact with. I got to hear other perspectives of the book. I got to hear what other people thought of the book in comparrison to my perspective. I thought the assingment to do for the summer reading book was a good assingment. I enjoyed working with students from different grades because it showed me all different peoples opinions of the book. I would rather dicuss in groups lile that than in english class. I think that all the students should read different books and not one book for all students.
